Tennessee Impressionist Painter |
|
Tenneesee painter Sherrie Russ Levine was born and raised in Georgetown, South Carolina. She attended the Ringling School of Art & Design in Sarasota, Florida and later worked as a graphic designer in Atlanta, Georgia 10 years before making Nashville, Tennessee her home. Since 1995 she has focused her energy on paintings in oil and actively participates in art exhibits and events for Tennessee Land Conservation.
Levine is an artist noted for her loose impressionist paintings that are vibrant with light and color. Her works capture the viewer's attention with expressive brushwork or palette knife work, a clear and direct statement, and strongest color effect possible -- the varied subject matter is secondary. She often travels to find new inspiration and loves to paint en plein air, which translates to "in the open air" in French.
Levine's paintings are gaining national recognition in private collections and have become a part of the Tennessee State Museum's Permanent Collection. She has been a monthly finalist in the annual "RayMar Art's Fine Art Competition" in 2007 & 2008, sponsored by RayMarArt.com. She has studied painting in workshops with nationally known artists such as Dee Beard Dean, Kim English, Barbara Flowers, Paula Frizbe, Camille Przewodek and Leslie Rich.
